The Epiphany is a scared feast day of Christians that celebrates the revelation of Jesus Christ as a human being. It is usually celebrated on January 6. The word “Epiphany” stands for “appearance” or “manifestation”. It celebrates the reappearance of Christ after his resurrection and is considered a day of immense religious significance.

The museum itself was founded in 1753, and was the first national public museum in the world and opened to the public on 15 January 1759. It was first housed in a seventeenth century mansion, Montagu House, in Bloomsbury on the site of the present building.

Among the fantastic offerings are:
The Sloane Astrolobe, a mechanical map of the heavens.
The Rosetta Stone, the key tablet to deciphering hieroglyphs.
The Lewis Chessmen, the most famous chess set in the world.
A stone chopper from Tanzania, the oldest exhibit in the museum.
The Sutton Hoo burial ship and treasures from Saxon England.
A mosaic of Christ, the oldest image of Christ found in Britain.

Of course there is so much more to enjoy, as well as special short term exhibitions which are well worth looking out for there are also opportunities to get to handle objects and to attend film showings, lectures and lunchtime talks.

There is so much to see and do so a little advanced planning is advised especially if there are specific exhibits that you want to see, find out where they are and see them before you get distracted elsewhere. A good tip is to join one of the free eye opener gallery tours which take between 30 – 40 minutes each which will give you a great insight on what the museum has to offer.

Situated in Great Russell street in the heart of London and as the area is within the London congestion zone and has very little parking Take the ‘Tube’, the underground system to get there, and the nearest underground stations are Tottenham Court Road, Holborn, Russell Square or Goodge Street.

A family friendly museum filled with interactive exhibits designed to foster freedom of creativity and the uttermost curiosity in the little ones, it also brought out the little kid in me.

There is more to do here than just look at exhibits, this is a place where people get to interact with the exhibits. All said there are more than fifty hands-on exhibits and activities that are available to bring smiles to the faces of the little ones.

If you are an artist you can pickup a paintbrush and paint designs on an old model Volkswagen. Here kids become a part of the art and get a feel for how it works as well as develop a love for the creative process.

If you have a young budding archeologist, there is an opportunity to participate in an archeological dig where dad and their kids can together search and uncover Cahuilla Indian artifact replicas with their own hands.

There is also the opportunity to dress up and play a number of different parts in the process and learn the responsibilities that come with it.

The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert has something for everybody.

Falling under the auspices of the National Museum of Science and Industry, the Science Museum is located on the Exhibition Road of South Kensington and shares the limelight with its sister institutions the Victoria and Albert Museums in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Encompassing seven floors, the Science Museum invites you on a journey of discovery. Its interactive galleries take you through an exploration of the history of technology, its evolution to the modern-day and the visions of the future of mankind.

The museum was originally conceived as part of the South Kensington Museum in 1857 with items left over from the Great Exhibition that was an epoch-marking event in the Victorian era.

These items included among its ranks some of the early prototype machinery such as the oldest surviving steam train, a functional model of the Babbage Difference Engine, the first-ever jet engine, documents from the early experiments for a typewriter and the prototype of the Clock of Long Now. These later formed the Museum of Patents and were shifted the Science Collections of the South Kensington Museum.

It was in 1909 that the exhibits of the Science Collections became so extensive that it was declared a museum in its own right and appointed its own director. This was to be the first incarnation of the institution that stands today, whose present buildings were opened to the public in the latter days of the 1920s.

Today, the Museum’s collection comprises over 300,000 items, the most renowned of which pertain to medical science and related fields. These are largely concentrated on the fourth floor, which is devoted to reconstructive performances on the history of medical practice, and the fifth floor, which investigates the modus operandi and instruments of ancient doctors from across the world’s cultures. The newly-established wing named in honor of pharmaceutical entrepreneur Henry Wellcome is one of the leading centres of contemporary bio-science in the world

The Euromast, museum boijmans van Beuningen, railz miniworld, and so many other side attractions. Rotterdam is a municipality and happens to be the 6th largest city in Europe, yes what a great achievement, do you know that this city everyone is celebrating so much was once devastated by floods, and by Hitler’s artillery during the Second World War? All the building except the white house was left standing, and that a magnanimous effort had to be directed at rebuilding instead of the expected renovation? A great fit you may say, but it is more than that, a great people sound better. Today amongst the great tourist attractions in Rotterdam – Netherlands is the skyline building amongst others.

The Skyline Building

The skyline building must be mentioned among the tourist attraction in Netherlands – Rotterdam, for no other reason than the spirit behind the massive construction. The spirit behind the rebuilding of a gigantic edifice is nothing but a courageous one, one that refused to be beaten, that rose above overwhelming assault by the Germans offensiveness. Notwithstanding, the attack, death, and massive destruction, the authorities refused to be beaten, and they did the unusual: demolish the old war ravaged building for another, this time a more magnanimous one – skyscrapers. The skyscrapers that was built under the rebuilding spirit was not the first one, the truth is before that the Dutch where taken in by the desire to build skylines, and the first skyscraper in Rotterdam was built in 1898 – Whitt Huit (white house).

Whitt huitt or white house was built in 1898, at the time of the building it was the 6th largest building in Europe. It is an eleven storey building, and standing above 140ft in supreme elegance, planned with the French ch?teau style. The building was among the few building to survive German blasting of Rotterdam. Considering the historical background, and the years of survival, tourist should look forward to nostalgic moments in the building.

Museum The Netherlands Way

The museum is another great side of tourist attraction. Rotterdam boasts of many museums namely: Volkenkundig museum, maritime, brigade, Boijmans Van Beruningen museum, Museum Het Schielandshuis etc. So if you love historical things then I am sure you are not going to give this thing a miss. A perfect place and should be in your visit list.

Museum Het Schielandshuis

This museum displays bits and pieces of the municipality: her people, fashion, and many other interesting details accumulated over the years. Quite a nice place and you would surely be amazed by the level of collection they have.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

This is another top museum found in the city of Rotterdam. It has a world class compilation of ancient leaders, modern, contemporary, applied arts and designs. The museum has about 140,000 objects including permanent collection, 175 workers, volunteers, annual budget of twelve million euros, and over 220,000 yearly visitors. In other words this place is simpley huge and something you dont want to miss in your trip ever.
